Ready to learn the fascinating story of the MSP? This original Missouri State Penitentiary tour discusses the 168-year history of the Missouri State Penitentiary and covers both the prison’s history itself and the history of penal eras in the United States, as well as prison reform.
On this tour, you’ll be guided through the Control Center in Housing Unit 1, as well as Housing Unit 4, the oldest building still standing on the Missouri State Penitentiary site (built in 1868). You’ll also tour the dungeon cells, Housing Unit 3, and the gas chamber, where many notorious inmates were put to death after eating their last meal.
