Mark S. Schreiber, author, began his criminal justice career at the Missouri State Penitentiary in 1968 as a corrections officer. Mark holds a B.S. degree from Sterling College and a masters degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College. He is currently the Deputy Warden of the Jefferson City Correctional Center.

Laura Burkhardt Adams became a public information officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections in 1994 after a 24-year career in publication design and production for the Missouri House of Representatives.
